Mr. Baao Zhao is an equity partner at Shihui Partners. Mr. Zhao’s practice mainly focuses on international commercial arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution. Mr. Zhao has participated as counsel in arbitration proceedings administered by CIETAC, BAC, HKIAC, SIAC, SCC, SCIA, and AAA. Mr. Zhao has also advised and acted as co-counsel in court proceedings in United States, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Cayman, and other jurisdictions.
Mr. Zhao’s practice covers a wide range of commercial disputes arising from equity investment, joint-venture agreement, corporate governance, security misrepresentation, and license agreement. Mr. Zhao is particularly experienced in handling technology-related disputes in cutting-edge areas pertaining to, inter alia, source code disputes, recourse of cryptocurrency, and data assets.
Before joining Shihui Partners, Mr. Zhao had worked at Han Kun Law Offices and Hogan Lovells International LLP for many years.
Mr. Zhao graduated from the University of Oxford, obtaining a Master of Philosophy of Law and a Magister Juris degree. Before that, Mr. Zhao received an LL.B. and Bachelor of Finance degree from Shandong University and received an LL.M degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Zhao has participated as a member of Oxford Intellectual Property Research Center in a copyright research program initiated by EUIPO. Mr. Zhao is also a member of the Intellectual Property Research Association of the PRC Law Society. Mr. Zhao has published three academic papers in leading PRC journals listed in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI).
