Dish Network Prevails in Copyright Infringement Suit Over Arabic Channel Rights

By Editorial Team

Dish Network LLC has emerged victorious in a copyright infringement lawsuit against a Florida businessman for streaming Arabic-language channels without authorization. The federal appeals court upheld that Dish’s copyrights were indeed infringed upon.

Gaby Fraifer and his companies, Tele-Center Inc. and Planet Telecom Inc., were found to have directly infringed on Dish’s exclusive rights to broadcast 21 Arabic-language channels in the United States through their UlaiTV and AhlaiTV services. Judge Embry J. Kidd stated that Dish had ownership of the disputed channels, leading to the court’s ruling in Dish’s favor.

The US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed a district court’s decision to grant summary judgment in favor of Dish, solidifying Dish’s rights over the channels in question.
