MLB Accuses Inventor of Patent Fraud in Digital Tickets Dispute
By Editorial Team
Major League Baseball’s digital media arm is embroiled in a legal battle over digital ticket technology with eChanging Barcode LLC’s co-owner Alan Amron. MLB Advanced Media LP has accused Amron of fraudulently reviving an abandoned patent to support his lawsuit.
In a filing submitted to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on June 13, MLBAM claimed that Amron made misleading statements regarding the abandonment of US Patent No. 9,047,715. The company alleged that Amron falsely attributed the patent’s abandonment to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MLBAM’s response, in the form of an answer and counterclaims, challenges the credibility of Amron’s actions and statements. The legal dispute revolves around the ownership and rights to digital ticketing technology, a crucial aspect of modern sports and entertainment industries.
The case highlights the complexities of intellectual property disputes and the importance of accurately representing facts in legal proceedings. Both parties are expected to present their arguments and evidence as the case progresses through the court system.
