Shantanu is a New York and India-qualified attorney with over 22 years of experience. He founded and runs Ronin Legal, a law firm with offices in UAE and India. He has lived and worked in India, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
He’s worked with leading law firms, including Linklaters and White & Case, and held in-house counsel roles in listed pharmaceutical companies and privately held family offices.
He holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, New York, and a B.A. LL.B (Hons.), with a gold medal in Intellectual Property law, from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, India.
Shantanu has a broad skill base: he has advised banks, funds, family offices and listed companies globally, on various complex transactions, including joint ventures, cross-border M&A, private equity and venture capital investments, insolvency and restructuring, intellectual property licensing, capital markets and structured/trade/vanilla financings. Shantanu has particular expertise in lifesciences and healthtech. He has advised on multiple cross-border transactions involving the licensing, distribution, manufacture or co-development of large and small molecule drugs. He also has significant global healthcare M&A experience, having closed acquisitions worth over USD 500 Mn. in North America, divestments worth over USD 600 Mn. in Japan and China, and USD 145 Mn. in joint ventures globally.
