For validation of the European patent in Austria, it is necessary to provide the German translation of the complete specification within three months from the publication of the grant of the European patent or the decision to maintain the European patent.

European Patent Maintenance fees
Annual fees are due each year starting from the 6th one and should be paid before the expiry of the last day of the month in which the anniversary of the filing date occurs. The first fee should be paid within 3 months from the due date. Late payment is possible within a six-month grace period by paying a corresponding surcharge.
Representation by an Austrian Patent Attorney
Foreign applicants should perform validation of a European patent in Austria through an agent, a registered Austrian patent attorney.
