Shilpa is a medical doctor with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Drug Regulatory Affairs, as well as an accomplished intellectual property expert. She is a registered Patent Agent with the Indian Patent Office, an Advocate, and a Trademark Attorney, bringing over 19 years of distinguished experience in patent prosecution, intellectual property strategy, and complex contentious proceedings. Over the course of her career, Shilpa has developed deep expertise in managing sophisticated patent matters across multiple technology domains, including chemical (industrial and agrochemical), pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, mechanical, and electronic innovations. She is widely recognized for her strategic approach to patent prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Shilpa possesses extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in advanced scientific fields such as chemistry, bio-energy, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. In addition to Indian patent prosecution, she has substantial experience in managing foreign patent filings across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with international associates, reviewing office actions, preparing responses, and ensuring effective global patent protection strategies for clients. Beyond prosecution, she has played a key role in high-profile patent litigation matters before the Delhi, Madras, Bombay, and Gujarat High Courts, and has successfully represented a leading Swiss pharmaceutical company in complex disputes involving blockbuster pharmaceutical molecules such as Vildagliptin, Indacaterol, Lapatinib, Nilotinib, Pazopanib, Erlotinib, Ceritinib, Ruxolitinib, and Eltrombopag, among several other New Chemical Entities (NCEs). She also has extensive experience managing Pan-India intellectual property litigation before various District Courts, High Courts, Commercial Courts, and proceedings before the (erstwhile) Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB).
