Libby Toub

Libby has engineered and lawyered in the tech world for the past two decades, working at the intersection of technology, business, and law.

Libby focuses her practice on Intellectual Property law, patent protection, and licensing. She is a former engineer in the field of semiconductor manufacturing and has spent the past 13 years as an in-house counsel for IBM and Apple. In this capacity, she mitigated IP exposure and supported business units in the form of client counseling, contract negotiation and drafting, global patent portfolio management, invention mining, infringement and validity analyses, IP monetization via licensing, open-source and standards participation, and formulating and executing robust programs in various aspects of IP Law.

Outside of tech, she serves on the Boards of organizations that support childhood education and public libraries.

Libby earned a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, a master’s degree in Industrial & Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from U.C. Berkeley. She is an active member of the California and New York bars and is registered to practice with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
