Cosmax Earns Korean IP Office Recognition for Excellence in Employee Invention Rewards, Surpasses 2,000 Patent Filings

Cosmax, a prominent global cosmetics original development manufacturing (ODM) company, has been officially certified by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) as an Outstanding Employee Invention Reward Company. This certification acknowledges Cosmax’s systematic and exemplary approach to rewarding employees for their research and development achievements, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fostering innovation.

Announced on August 5, the certification is awarded to small and medium-sized enterprises that have established and effectively operate employee invention reward regulations. KIPO’s comprehensive evaluation considers the level of system operation, reward performance, and the cultivation of an invention-encouraging culture within the company.

Cosmax operates a comprehensive reward system that incentivizes employees not only in research and development but also across production, design, and other sectors. This system covers patent, utility model, design, and trademark applications. Between 2021 and the first quarter of 2026, Cosmax distributed over 230 million won in rewards for 1,765 employee inventions, encompassing patents, designs, and trademarks.

The company has steadily expanded its intellectual property portfolio, boasting more than 2,000 cumulative patent applications and over 900 registered patents to date. Cosmax asserts that its overall intellectual property holdings, including trademark rights, represent the largest scale within the cosmetics ODM industry.

To manage its IP assets, Cosmax maintains a dedicated intellectual property organization that oversees the entire process from application strategy formulation to rights acquisition and utilization. This system enables the company to swiftly convert research achievements into enforceable rights, thereby enhancing its business competitiveness—a factor positively noted in the certification evaluation.

As a certified Outstanding Employee Invention Reward Company, Cosmax is now eligible for administrative benefits such as priority examination and reductions in registration fees when applying for patents, utility models, and designs. The company intends to leverage these advantages to improve the efficiency of its research and development investments and to accelerate the pace of securing technology rights.
