FisherBroyles, LLP, recognized as the world’s first and one of the largest distributed law firms, has announced the addition of partner Teige P. Sheehan, Ph.D., to its intellectual property practice in New York. Sheehan is a seasoned patent attorney with extensive experience spanning biotechnology, neuroscience, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, nanotechnology, semiconductors, startups, and artificial intelligence.
His comprehensive practice encompasses drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing global patent and intellectual property portfolios, and providing patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions. Additionally, Sheehan handles licensing and technology transfer matters, conducts due diligence analyses, and manages trademark and copyright litigation, appeals, and post-grant proceedings.
Before joining FisherBroyles, Sheehan spent nearly 15 years at Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C., an IP-focused law firm, where he notably drafted amicus curiae briefs for the U.S. Supreme Court. His academic credentials include graduating summa cum laude from Albany Law School, earning Bachelor of Science and doctoral degrees from Boston College, and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. His research focused on molecular genetics and the effects of antidepressants, drugs, and chronic stress on neural function and behavior.
Kevin Broyles, cofounder and managing partner at FisherBroyles, highlighted Sheehan’s unique qualifications: “Teige’s impressive science background, combined with his numerous peer-reviewed research papers and extensive legal career, equips him with the unique ability to counsel and guide clients with each perspective taken into account. His nearly two decades of experience and vast knowledge make him an excellent addition to the more than 80 IP attorneys who protect our clients’ IP rights with unwavering determination. We’re thrilled that he’s joined the FisherBroyles team.”
The firm has prioritized growth in its intellectual property practice throughout 2026, making strategic hires in key U.S. markets. In addition to Sheehan’s arrival in New York, FisherBroyles expanded into San Diego in February with IP partners James Cleary and Pedro F. Suarez. Furthermore, Xiaoban Xin, Ph.D., recently joined the firm’s IP practice group in Washington, D.C.
