The International Intellectual Property Law Association (IIPLA) has appointed Michael Dryja as its United States Representative, according to an announcement shared by the association on October 9. The appointment is intended to support the organization’s U.S. conference activities and strengthen its engagement with the country’s intellectual property and legal communities.
Under the appointment, Dryja will serve as IIPLA’s primary U.S. contact, with responsibilities spanning conference planning and delivery, scheduling, program development, Continuing Legal Education (CLE), sponsorship development, and the expansion of the association’s U.S. conferences.
Azam Ghani, Founder and President of IIPLA, said the appointment represents a step toward expanding the association’s presence in the United States.
“Strengthening our U.S. presence is an important step for IIPLA. Michael will help us expand our conferences, build industry relationships, and create new opportunities for collaboration across the IP community,” Ghani said.
The appointment comes as IIPLA seeks to develop relationships with intellectual property practitioners, legal professionals, potential sponsors, and other stakeholders in the United States. The association’s initiatives include conferences and professional engagement activities focused on intellectual property law and related industry developments.
In his written acceptance, Dryja confirmed that he would take on the representative role and expressed enthusiasm for contributing to IIPLA’s growth in the United States.
His acceptance letter also refers to preliminary planning for the next IIPLA U.S. conferences, which are anticipated to take place during the last week of September 2027. The proposed timing remains part of the planning process, while the venue and other arrangements have yet to be finalized.
The appointment establishes a designated U.S. contact for IIPLA as it works on future conference programming, potential sponsorship opportunities, and engagement with the wider intellectual property community. Further details about the planned U.S. conferences are expected to depend on the progress of the association’s arrangements.
