Jakarta, January 21, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy and Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, together with Deputy Minister Irene Umar, visited the Pipilaka Calling exhibition held on the 5th floor of Sarinah Thamrin, Jakarta. The exhibition spotlights local intellectual property (IP) through an innovative blend of technology and moral storytelling, designed to engage audiences across generations.
Minister Teuku Riefky expressed his admiration for the exhibition, stating, “I am very impressed by Pipilaka Calling as an IP-based art exhibition that combines technology with moral messages across generations. I strongly recommend this exhibition for Indonesian children, as it presents immersive experiences combined with entertainment, interactive audiovisual elements, group singing, and storytelling about environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way.”
Pipilaka Calling features five interactive and educational zones that offer visitors a unique experience beyond conventional exhibitions. Attendees enter the Pipilaka universe, where IP characters serve as storytellers, prompting reflection on social and environmental issues relevant to the public.
Deputy Minister Irene Umar highlighted the accessibility and family-friendly nature of the exhibition: “At Sarinah, there is an immersive space where visitors can dance, sing, and take photos together with Pipilaka IP characters. The five attractions at Pipilaka Calling truly offer a fun experience for everyone. Visitors can easily access the exhibition using public transportation such as the MRT or TransJakarta buses to explore the Pipilaka universe.”
Since its public opening on December 15, 2025, Pipilaka Calling has operated daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. WIB and will continue until March 8, 2026. The exhibition encourages visitors to develop greater environmental awareness through immersive concerts, coloring activities, storytelling sessions, and direct interaction within the Pipilaka Forest. Additionally, visitors can purchase a range of Pipilaka IP merchandise, including jackets, T-shirts, tote bags, hats, pillows, and keychains.
Wahyadi Liem, Founder of the Pipilaka Foundation, explained the significance of the IP’s name and venue choice: “Pipilaka means ‘ant,’ which carries a philosophy of mutual cooperation. This IP is not only entertaining but also conveys positive messages, such as caring for the environment. We chose Sarinah as the immersive venue because it is a historical building, easily accessible by public transportation, and family-friendly.”
The exhibition emphasizes the philosophy of togetherness as an attitude and spirit that fosters sincere care and tangible benefits through collaborative IP development. Prior to the Jakarta exhibition, Pipilaka installations were presented at JNM Bloc Yogyakarta from June 26 to August 28, 2024, and at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, from December 14, 2024, to February 2, 2025.
Eno Sigit, Co-Founder of the Pipilaka Foundation, expressed hopes for broader recognition and technological integration: “We want people across Indonesia to recognize Pipilaka not only as entertaining IP, but also as a medium for education through creativity. We hope the Ministry of Creative Economy can provide opportunities for Pipilaka to be showcased in various regions across Indonesia and connect us with partners who have new technologies, so they can be integrated with Pipilaka to make it even more engaging and advanced.”
The Ministry of Creative Economy’s visit to Pipilaka Calling follows a prior audience meeting held on March 6, 2025, aimed at supporting the development of local IP for global recognition. The Ministry consistently encourages the presentation of local IP in creative spaces that integrate digital technology to offer imaginative and inspiring experiences.
Also attending the exhibition were Dadam Mahdar, Director of Fine Arts and Performing Arts at the Ministry of Creative Economy; Putri Intan Sari, Treasurer General of the Pipilaka Foundation; and Astrid Intan Sari, Deputy Secretary General of the Pipilaka Foundation.
This visit underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering local creative industries and promoting intellectual property as a vehicle for education, cultural preservation, and environmental advocacy in Indonesia.
