Lockton Expands Transaction Liability Team with IP Insurance Specialists Jason Sandler and Craig Taylor

Lockton, recognized as the world’s largest independent insurance broker, announced the strategic addition of Jason Sandler and Craig Taylor to its Intangible Asset and Contingent Liability practice, a specialized division within its broader Transaction Liability practice. This move is aimed at enhancing Lockton’s capacity to address complex intellectual property (IP) insurance needs.

Sandler and Taylor bring significant expertise in intellectual property matters, particularly in credit and monetization strategies linked to IP assets. Their knowledge includes Collateral Protection Insurance, a niche but increasingly vital area of coverage that supports the residual value of intangible assets.

In their new roles, Sandler and Taylor will collaborate closely with Michael Perich, Head of Litigation Insurance at Lockton, to develop and place insurance policies that provide robust support for IP-related disputes and litigation. This integrated approach aims to offer clients comprehensive risk management solutions tailored to the nuances of IP assets.

Gaurav Sud, Partner and Co-Practice Leader at Lockton, emphasized the importance of this expansion: “The addition of Jason and Craig to our team represents a further commitment from Lockton to provide cutting-edge solutions to the challenges facing our clients. We are deeply focused on innovation and believe that Jason and Craig will help our clients extract value from their IP assets, an asset class that is only taking on added importance as technological development accelerates and in the context of macro economic uncertainty.”

Jason Sandler joins Lockton from another global insurance brokerage, bringing with him a background as an intellectual property attorney at the prestigious law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore. His legal and insurance experience positions him uniquely to navigate the intersection of IP law and insurance coverage.

Craig Taylor also arrives from a global insurance brokerage and has over a decade of experience in the insurance industry. He is recognized as a thought leader in Collateral Protection Insurance, contributing innovative perspectives on protecting intangible assets.

Expressing enthusiasm about their new roles, Sandler stated, “We could not be more excited to deliver novel insurance solutions to Lockton’s clients. At the same time, we understand that our clients are best-served by marrying client-driven innovation with insurance carrier collaboration as we break new ground.”

Taylor added, “Our goal is to create an IP-focused insurance strategy that will be sustainable for the long term for all stakeholders in the process, and deliver results for years to come.”
