MNLU Mumbai Launches Comprehensive Online Certificate Course on Intellectual Property Rights

The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) - IPR Chair and the Centre for Research in Intellectual Property (CRIP) at Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai, have jointly organized an Online Certificate Course on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in India. This program focuses on the protection of trademarks, copyrights, designs, geographical indications (GI), and plant varieties & farmers’ rights (PVP&FR).

Intellectual Property Rights such as trademarks, copyrights, designs, GIs, and PVP&FR are critical for encouraging innovation, creativity, and industrial development. Given the rapid advancements in India’s IPR regime, including digital reforms and procedural updates, there is a growing need for students, professionals, academicians, and innovators to acquire both practical and legal expertise in these areas.

In response to this need, MNLU Mumbai has designed the “One Week Online Certificate Course on Trade Marks, Copyrights, Designs, GI, and PPV & FR in India.” The course offers a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks, registration procedures, protection mechanisms, and recent developments related to IPR.

The curriculum is delivered by experienced academicians, senior officials from the Indian Intellectual Property Office, and leading IPR professionals, ensuring a blend of academic and practical perspectives.

Key topics covered in the course include International Agreements and Conventions relevant to IPR, with a focus on the International Registration of Trademarks under the Madrid System. Participants will also study the processes of opposition, cancellation, and rectification of trademarks, alongside infringement and passing-off issues.

Further modules address the transfer of trademark rights, appeal procedures in trademark cases, brand valuation, and the licensing and assignment of trademarks.

Upon successful completion, registered attendees will receive an electronic certificate, validating their participation and understanding of the course material.

This initiative by MNLU Mumbai and DPIIT-IPR Chair reflects the increasing importance of specialized education in Intellectual Property Rights to support India’s growing innovation ecosystem and legal infrastructure.
