Motive Offshore Group Expands Subsea Testing Capabilities with Acquisition of C-Kore

Motive Offshore Group, headquartered in Boyndie, has announced the acquisition of C-Kore, a provider of subsea cable monitoring and integrity technology. This strategic move is designed to bolster Motive’s global capabilities in testing, inspection, and certification services.

The acquisition is expected to increase the contribution of Motive’s certification and inspection division to approximately 35 percent of the company’s total turnover. It marks a significant shift in Motive’s strategic direction by incorporating a technology-driven focus, dedicated research and development, and proprietary intellectual property into its operations.

C-Kore has developed a suite of subsea testing and measurement tools that offer advantages over conventional methods in fault-finding, installation, and decommissioning processes. Their advanced subsea testing tools enable rapid automated testing, facilitating efficient fault detection and smooth installation operations. This results in reduced vessel and personnel costs.

Operating globally across the cable market, C-Kore also identifies potential growth opportunities in the emerging domestic and international offshore wind and decommissioning sectors. The company will continue to be led within Motive by its existing operations director, Greg Smith, and sales and marketing director, Cynthia Pikaar, from its Yorkshire headquarters. This location benefits from access to a strong regional electronics and software engineering talent pool.

Dave Acton, CEO of Motive Offshore Group, commented on the acquisition: “C-Kore’s ability to win and execute global projects through a single UK entity has been impressive. We see a real opportunity to scale the success already achieved by Greg, Cynthia and the wider team, whilst providing enhanced customer support via Motive’s regional entities across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific.”

He added, “C-Kore’s proven, technology-led capabilities not only complement our subsea testing and inspection services by aligning with the developing requirements of our existing client base, but also underline our objective to provide integrated and highly transferable equipment, services and technology across the energy sector.”

Greg Smith, C-Kore’s operations director, expressed enthusiasm about joining Motive: “We’re thrilled to be joining the Motive team. Their global reach and strong market presence will bring our award-winning technology to a wider customer base and accelerate our move into new markets worldwide.”

Smith further stated, “We’re incredibly proud of the innovative and sophisticated cost-saving technology the C-Kore team has delivered so far. Uniting with Motive allows us to build on our achievements while continuing to support our existing customers without interruption.”

C-Kore specializes in automated subsea testing tools tailored for the offshore oil and gas industry. The company supports operators, installation contractors, and service companies worldwide, assisting in managing the integrity and performance of subsea assets throughout their lifecycle.

Its compact, field-proven tools enable quick fault diagnosis, straightforward integrity verification, and efficient testing during installation, commissioning, and maintenance campaigns. By automating the testing process, C-Kore’s tools reduce offshore intervention time, improve operational efficiency, and enhance safety during subsea operations.

The company’s projects span the UK, Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Australia, working directly with operators and contractors wherever subsea testing is required.
