Paramount Group, a global defense and aerospace company based in Africa, has launched a significant industrial partnership in Jordan to locally produce the MBOMBE 6x6 armored vehicle for the Jordanian Armed Forces. This collaboration involves key regional players including the King Abdullah II Design Development Bureau (KADDB) and Jordan Manufacturing Services Solutions (JMSS).
The partnership was formally announced at the Special Operations Forces Exhibition & Conference (SOFEX-2016) held in Amman. Under the new contract, JMSS will lead the local production and assembly of the MBOMBE 6x6 at a dedicated facility within the Dulail-KADDB Industrial Park.
Ivor Ichikowitz, Founder and Executive Chairman of Paramount Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering industrial partnerships that deliver sophisticated, affordable, and adaptable security solutions. He stated, “We are extremely proud to expand our collaborative partnerships with local Jordanian industry, working together to bolster local industrialization, creating advanced technologies and skilled jobs.”
The agreement anticipates the delivery of 50 MBOMBE vehicles to the Jordanian Armed Forces. Paramount Group has already commenced production of the initial batch in South Africa, with the first 25 vehicles scheduled for delivery to Jordan during the summer of 2016.
The supply chain includes several local partners: KADDB, the Jordan Advanced Machining Company (JAMCO), responsible for manufacturing turrets and pestle mounts, and Aselsan Middle East, which will supply intercom systems.
Dr. Eng. Khaled Tashtshe, General Manager of JMSS, highlighted the company’s regional leadership in manufacturing medium and heavy vehicles and expressed pride in leading the local production and assembly of the MBOMBE armored vehicle.
In addition to manufacturing, Paramount Group will provide comprehensive industrial and technical training programs. These include vehicle maintenance training for JMSS employees and operational and technical maintenance instruction for Jordanian Armed Forces personnel.
Mr. Ichikowitz further noted the strategic importance of affordable and adaptable defense solutions amid constrained military budgets and complex security threats in the region. He remarked, “Paramount Group is privileged to play our part in supporting the growth of the Middle East’s military industrial capability.”
JMSS and its partners will immediately begin fabricating jigs for the MBOMBE hulls to facilitate the production of the second batch of 25 vehicles in Jordan. The process involves fabricating hull assemblies as welded sub-assemblies, with cut and bent plates supplied by Paramount Group. Major sub-assemblies such as the power pack, wheel stations, suspension, and hatches will be assembled locally.
The Jordanian MBOMBE variant is a bespoke model developed by Paramount Group to withstand the extreme climates of the Middle East. During development, the vehicle underwent rigorous trials in desert environments reaching 50°C in Jordan and the UAE, as well as winter trials in Kazakhstan with temperatures as low as -50°C.
Across all models, the MBOMBE incorporates state-of-the-art armor and landmine protection technology, offering exceptional defense against landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), side blasts, and rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attacks.
This partnership exemplifies Paramount Group’s ongoing strategy to collaborate with regional industries, enhancing local defense manufacturing capabilities and contributing to economic and security stability in the Middle East.
