Rwandan entrepreneur Benoit Ngabonziza has co-founded CityMoshi, a mobile application launched in 2024 that enables users to discover, create, and participate in local events. The platform is designed to foster physical community experiences, targeting sectors such as tourism, hospitality, and social networking.
CityMoshi aims to connect individuals through real-world interactions by providing a comprehensive suite of tools. Users can search for cultural activities and social outings nearby, while event organizers have access to features for planning private or public gatherings, managing invitations, and tracking participant feedback.
A distinctive feature of CityMoshi is its memory-storage capability, which allows users to preserve and revisit past event experiences, enhancing engagement and community bonding.
Beyond his role as CityMoshi’s chief executive officer, Ngabonziza is managing partner at BeneDico Consult, a consulting firm specializing in intellectual property, trade, and investment. He also founded Ikiringo Africa Culture Hub, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting the cultural heritage of sub-Saharan Africa.
Ngabonziza holds a master’s degree in international economics and intellectual property from Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, earned in 2014. He further advanced his education by obtaining a doctorate in international management from Geneva Business School in 2024.
His professional career began in 2015 at Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and ICT, where he served as director of youth empowerment and program coordination. In 2017, he was appointed director of youth economic empowerment within the same ministry.
Ngabonziza’s expertise later extended to international organizations. In 2021, he worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Between 2022 and 2023, he served as a national entrepreneurship expert for Expertise France in Rwanda.
CityMoshi represents a significant advancement in Africa’s event technology sector by leveraging mobile technology to enhance tourism, hospitality, and social connectivity. Ngabonziza’s combined experience in intellectual property, international management, and youth empowerment underpins the platform’s innovative approach to community engagement and cultural promotion.
As CityMoshi continues to develop, it is positioned to support both regional and international event ecosystems, fostering stronger community ties and economic opportunities through technology-driven real-world experiences.
