The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced the release of redesigned electronic Patent eGrant covers and Trademark registration certificates to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary of life, liberty, and the pursuit of innovation. This initiative celebrates the rich history of American innovation and highlights the ongoing importance of intellectual property in fostering creativity and economic development.
The updated Patent eGrant covers feature a distinctive “250” logo, which was selected as the winning design from an agency-wide contest. This logo symbolizes the semiquincentennial milestone and will be included on all new patent cover sheets issued through the last Tuesday of 2026, December 29.
The redesigned Patent eGrant covers build upon the current design first introduced on March 11, 2018. That original design debuted with the issuance of U.S. patent number 10 million on June 19, 2018, marking a historic moment for the USPTO.
Following the patent covers, the U.S. Trademark Office, known as America’s Branding Agency, will release its own updated electronic registration certificates next Tuesday. The USPTO transitioned to issuing electronic trademark registration certificates on May 24, 2022, and this redesign continues the agency’s modernization efforts while celebrating the nation’s milestone.
Both commemorative designs serve to honor the legacy of American innovation and the critical role intellectual property plays in supporting economic growth and creativity across the country.
The USPTO encourages stakeholders and the public to visit the patents eGrant and trademarks registration webpages for more information on the new designs. Additionally, the agency’s website provides further details on how it is celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary.
To ensure uninterrupted access to all related communications, the USPTO advises users to allow-list specific government email domains if they experience issues with accessing links in official emails.
For ongoing updates, individuals can subscribe to USPTO email notifications via the subscription center on the agency’s website. The USPTO also reminds recipients that its email communications come from unmonitored mailboxes and directs inquiries to its official contact page.
This commemorative initiative underscores the USPTO’s commitment to honoring the nation’s heritage while advancing the future of innovation through intellectual property protection.
