Applications are now open for the WIPO Joint Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Intellectual Property, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a collaborative initiative between the WIPO Academy, the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (SAKPATENTI), and Kutaisi International University (KIU) located in Kutaisi, Georgia.
This Joint MBA program leverages the combined strengths of WIPO’s global leadership in IP education, SAKPATENTI’s expertise in national IP policy, and KIU’s academic faculty and campus infrastructure. Together, these partners aim to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that bridges intellectual property fundamentals with entrepreneurial and business management skills.
Designed for professionals currently working or aspiring to work in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), corporations, and public sector organizations, the program focuses on developing advanced knowledge and practical competencies. Graduates will be prepared to formulate and implement robust IP and innovation strategies, applying theoretical frameworks and practical tools to real-world business challenges.
The curriculum addresses the increasing demand for professionals capable of integrating key IP elements—including copyright, patents, and trademarks—into strategic business planning and decision-making processes.
The MBA is structured over a 12-month period and delivered through a hybrid learning model consisting of three distinct phases:
1. Distance Learning Phase (September 21, 2026 – January 17, 2027): This initial phase involves online coursework covering the fundamentals of intellectual property, management principles, and entrepreneurship.
2. Residential Phase (March 1 – May 15, 2027): Participants convene on-site at KIU’s campus in Kutaisi for an immersive learning experience. This phase includes mandatory and elective courses, case study analyses, interactive workshops, and legal drafting exercises.
3. Research Paper Phase (May 17 – June 30, 2027): The program culminates with the completion and submission of a final research paper, synthesizing the knowledge and skills acquired.
An advanced course component on Intellectual Property, covering Industrial Property as well as Copyright and Related Rights, is integrated into the curriculum to deepen participants’ expertise.
