Accenture Expands Siemens Digital Industries Expertise with Acquisition of Industries eXcellence Group

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) announced on June 17, 2026, its agreement to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Engineering Group and a long-standing partner of Siemens Digital Industries. This strategic acquisition is set to enhance Accenture’s capabilities in delivering software, data, and AI-enabled solutions to manufacturers seeking to modernize product development, production, and supply chain operations.

Tracey Countryman, Accenture’s global supply chain and engineering lead, emphasized the growing investments manufacturers are making in software, data, and AI to create more flexible, intelligent, and connected engineering and factory operations. She noted that many companies face challenges integrating these technologies across products, factories, plants, and supply chains. The combination of IndX’s expertise in Siemens technologies with Accenture’s AI and industry knowledge aims to address these integration challenges more rapidly for clients.

IndX, headquartered in Rome and Chicago, specializes in software solutions for discrete and process manufacturers using Siemens platforms. Its expertise spans digital thread implementations that connect engineering, manufacturing, and automation across IT and operational technology domains. Key capabilities include product lifecycle management, simulation, digital twins, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), industrial edge computing, and cloud computing.

The company serves leading clients across diverse sectors such as aerospace and defense, automotive, consumer goods, energy, high tech, industrial equipment, life sciences, and utilities. IndX employs over 650 professionals located in Italy, the United States, India, Germany, other European countries, and Mexico.

Following the acquisition, IndX’s team and capabilities will support the growth of the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a global practice launched last year that integrates industrial technology with AI-enabled engineering and manufacturing solutions.

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, described the acquisition as a milestone for the Accenture Siemens Business Group. He highlighted that IndX brings proven skills in Siemens industrial solutions for digital manufacturing, engineering, automation, digital twin, and simulation, along with established client relationships.

Vivek Kaushik, global lead of the Accenture Siemens Business Group, added that the partnership with Siemens and the integration of IndX will accelerate the development of AI-enabled industrial solutions. These solutions aim to reduce engineering time to market, improve manufacturing efficiency, and strengthen clients’ digital cores.

Accenture plans to establish two new Centers of Excellence for Siemens Digital Industries solutions in Italy and India. These centers will unite professionals with expertise in industrial software and advanced digital technologies to help clients enhance product design, factory operations, and supply chain management by leveraging industrial software, AI, and digital engineering.

Teodoro Lio, Market Unit Lead for Accenture Italy, underscored Italy’s unique combination of manufacturing excellence, engineering capabilities, and innovation talent. He stated that expanding Siemens industrial software capabilities and creating a Center of Excellence in Italy will bolster the country’s industrial competitiveness, accelerate digital transformation, and generate specialized skills and jobs.

Accenture will also integrate IndX’s assets and services related to other technologies into its respective business units.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and completion remains subject to customary closing conditions.

Accenture cautioned that forward-looking statements in the announcement involve risks and uncertainties, including potential delays or failure to close the transaction, economic and geopolitical volatility, competitive pressures, technological changes, and regulatory challenges. The company referenced its most recent Annual Report on Form 10-K for a detailed discussion of risk factors.
