Adeia Files Patent Infringement Suit Against FuboTV in Delaware Federal Court

Adeia Inc. (Nasdaq: ADEA), a technology company specializing in innovations for next-generation media and semiconductor experiences, announced on July 1, 2026, that its wholly owned subsidiary has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against FuboTV Inc. (NYSE: FUBO) and certain of its subsidiaries. The case is pending in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

Paul E. Davis, CEO of Adeia, stated, “We are committed to reaching a fair and mutually beneficial agreement through constructive engagement and good-faith negotiations. Our media technologies are broadly licensed across the pay-TV industry, and we remain open to a resolution with Fubo that appropriately recognizes the value of our innovations. We believe we were left with no choice but to file this lawsuit to protect our intellectual property which reflects decades of research, development and investment.”

The complaint alleges that FuboTV infringes four U.S. patents within Adeia’s extensive media intellectual property portfolio. These patents cover technologies that enable essential features of advanced media delivery and streaming experiences widely used by consumers across diverse video platforms.

Adeia clarified that although Disney is a controlling shareholder of FuboTV, the company’s previously announced settlement and license agreement with Disney is separate and independent from the claims asserted in this lawsuit. This legal action specifically addresses FuboTV’s alleged unauthorized use of Adeia’s patented technologies and is a distinct matter between Adeia and FuboTV.

Over the past forty years, Adeia and its predecessor entities have continuously invested in research and development, resulting in one of the world’s largest intellectual property portfolios, comprising more than 13,750 worldwide patent assets. Adeia’s IP is currently licensed by many leading companies in the media, consumer electronics, streaming, and semiconductor sectors, underscoring the broad adoption and value of its innovations.

Adeia is recognized for developing foundational technologies that enable next-generation solutions in the semiconductor and media industries. The company invents and licenses technologies that shape the future of digital entertainment, electronics, and high-performance computing, transforming these technologies into intelligent, immersive, and personalized experiences.

The company’s press release also contains forward-looking statements subject to risks and uncertainties, including the ability to implement business strategies, enter into favorable license agreements, retain key personnel, and prevail in litigation. Adeia cautions that actual results may differ materially due to various factors, including legal proceedings such as this lawsuit against FuboTV.

Adeia’s recent activities include multi-year IP license agreements with RPX and Google, reflecting ongoing efforts to expand and monetize its patent portfolio.
