BioMark Diagnostics Obtains Key Canadian and European Patents for Innovative Lung Cancer Blood Test

BioMark Diagnostics Inc., a precision diagnostics company specializing in early lung cancer detection, announced a significant intellectual property milestone with the receipt of patent allowances from both the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). This development marks a critical step in protecting the company’s innovative liquid biopsy technology that utilizes metabolomic profiling and machine learning algorithms to detect non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) at its earliest stages.

The patented technology centers on a newly developed algorithm that analyzes metabolic biomarkers from a minimally invasive blood test. This approach aims to improve screening rates and enable earlier diagnosis of lung cancer, which remains a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Traditional screening methods often fail to detect the disease before it advances, underscoring the clinical importance of BioMark’s platform.

Rashid Ahmed Bux, CEO and Founder of BioMark Diagnostics, highlighted the robustness of the clinical validation underpinning the patent allowances. “Our metabolomics platform has demonstrated immense promise across more than 15,000 blood samples collected in Quebec, France, and Germany,” he stated. “The simultaneous patent allowances from CIPO and the EPO validate the scientific rigor and clinical significance of our technology. These patents protect the core metabolic signatures and advanced algorithms that drive our screening panel.”

The multi-jurisdictional clinical data supporting the patent claims reflect the platform’s reliability and reproducibility across diverse populations. This broad validation enhances BioMark’s position as it prepares for commercial launch later this year.

In addition to the Canadian and European patents, BioMark is actively prosecuting corresponding patent applications in other major markets, including the United States, China, and Japan. Securing intellectual property protection in these regions is expected to facilitate international commercial partnerships, licensing agreements, and integration with global health systems seeking advanced diagnostic solutions.

BioMark’s platform leverages proprietary metabolomic profiling technology combined with machine learning to identify early-stage cancer through a simple blood draw. The company is advancing its lung cancer screening panel toward regulatory approval and market entry, operating out of Canada with an expanding network of international clinical and research collaborations.

The patent allowances come amid heightened global attention on Canadian medical innovation, coinciding with the BIO International Convention where BioMark’s advancements are gaining international recognition.

Further information about BioMark Diagnostics Inc. is available on the SEDAR+ website and the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) website.
