Canon Corporation took part in the International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF) Asia-Pacific Project’s delegation to India, which convened in Delhi from September 22 to 25, 2025. The delegation’s objective was to engage with local stakeholders to bolster intellectual property (IP) enforcement and anti-counterfeiting initiatives.
During the visit, the delegation held meetings with several Indian government agencies, including the Patent Office, Customs authorities, and the Police. These discussions focused on enhancing controls over counterfeit products, sharing best practices, and exploring cooperative frameworks to strengthen IP protection.
In addition to government bodies, the delegation engaged with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), a leading industry association. This engagement aimed to foster collaboration between public authorities and private sector representatives in the fight against counterfeit goods.
Canon’s participation in this delegation underscores its ongoing commitment to combating counterfeiting and protecting intellectual property rights across the Asia-Pacific region. The company continues to work closely with government entities and industry partners to develop effective enforcement mechanisms.
This activity is highlighted on the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) website, reflecting the broader international cooperation efforts to address IP infringement challenges.
Canon’s recent IP enforcement initiatives include take-down actions on major e-commerce platforms. For example, in March 2026, Canon initiated take-down activities on the Lazada Singapore platform. Earlier, in February 2026, the company successfully removed toner cartridge listings from European Amazon platforms based on European Patent No. 4,350,447.
Canon also collaborates with the Japan Patent Office (JPO) on anti-counterfeiting campaigns, including efforts featuring the mascot "Kawanzo-chan" to raise awareness.
In late 2025, Canon participated in the JIPA Global Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group’s delegation to Cambodia and Vietnam, further demonstrating its regional commitment to IP protection.
Canon’s sustained enforcement actions and international cooperation efforts highlight the company’s proactive approach to safeguarding its intellectual property and supporting global anti-counterfeiting frameworks.
