Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Customs Strengthen Intellectual Property Enforcement Cooperation in 2025 Meeting

On October 27, 2025, the customs authorities of Hong Kong, the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, and the Macao Customs Service convened the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Customs Intellectual Property Enforcement Cooperation Meeting in Dongguan.

The meeting served as a platform for the three customs administrations to summarize recent enforcement results related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection within the Greater Bay Area. Participants exchanged insights on collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening IPR safeguards across the region.

In addition to reviewing enforcement outcomes, the delegations took the opportunity to visit the China Art Toy Centre. This visit provided an understanding of national efforts to promote creative industries through robust intellectual property protection.

The cooperation meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao customs authorities to enhance cross-border enforcement mechanisms and support innovation-driven economic development.

Separately, Hong Kong Customs has recently signed an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) Action Plan with Kazakhstan Customs, further expanding its international collaboration on trade facilitation and security.

Moreover, the inaugural ceremony for the second term of the Dealers in Precious Metals and Stones Sector Advisory Group was held, marking continued engagement with key stakeholders in the precious metals and stones industry.

These developments collectively reflect the proactive stance of Hong Kong Customs and its regional and international partners in advancing intellectual property enforcement and trade security.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Customs Intellectual Property Enforcement Cooperation Meeting remains a vital forum for aligning strategies and fostering cooperation to protect intellectual property rights effectively in one of China’s most dynamic economic regions.
