Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry Introduces Five New Digital Intellectual Property Services, Expanding Portfolio to Seven

Doha, Qatar – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar has announced the launch of five new electronic services dedicated to intellectual property (IP), expanding its total IP e-services offering to seven. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation and enhancing the quality and accessibility of its services.

The newly introduced e-services enable users to apply online for the registration, issuance, amendment, or waiver of the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Deposit Certificate. Additionally, applicants can request a 'To Whom It May Concern' Certificate through these digital platforms.

The scope of copyright beneficiaries covered under these services is broad and includes poets, researchers, authors of literary works and screenplays, composers and music arrangers, as well as artists, designers, architects, and developers of computer software and applications.

Neighbouring rights beneficiaries are also supported through these services. This group encompasses performing artists such as singers, actors, and musicians, producers of sound recordings, and radio and television broadcasting organizations.

By providing these comprehensive digital services, the Ministry aims to streamline intellectual property processes, reduce administrative burdens, and foster a more efficient environment for creators and rights holders in Qatar.

The expansion of digital IP services aligns with Qatar’s broader national strategy to leverage technology for government service delivery improvements and to support the creative and cultural sectors.

These developments are expected to facilitate easier access to IP protections and certifications, thereby encouraging innovation and safeguarding the rights of creators and performers across various artistic and technical fields.

The Ministry continues to monitor and update its digital platforms to ensure they meet the evolving needs of IP stakeholders and contribute to the country’s economic diversification goals.

This launch marks a significant step in Qatar’s efforts to modernize its intellectual property infrastructure and provide transparent, user-friendly services to its citizens and residents.

As the Ministry expands its digital offerings, it reinforces Qatar’s position as a regional leader in adopting technology-driven solutions for intellectual property management.
