Recce Pharmaceuticals Secures Key Patent in Vietnam Amid Share Price Decline

Shares of Recce Pharmaceuticals experienced a decline during afternoon trading despite the company’s announcement of securing a patent in Vietnam for its flagship anti-infective treatments. The newly granted patent extends intellectual property protection for Recce’s drug candidates through the year 2041.

The patent specifically covers the manufacturing processes and therapeutic applications of Recce’s R327 and R529 anti-infective candidates. These treatments target a broad spectrum of bacterial and viral infections, positioning them as vital tools in addressing infectious diseases.

This patent represents Recce’s eighth granted family 4 patent, joining a portfolio that includes protections in key pharmaceutical markets such as Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, and Brazil. The expansion into Vietnam marks a significant milestone in the company’s global intellectual property strategy.

Vietnam is recognized as Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing pharmaceutical market, with projections estimating its value to reach between USD 10 billion and USD 16 billion by 2026. Recce highlighted this market’s importance in its statement, emphasizing the strategic value of securing patent protection there.

Moreover, Vietnam faces one of the most severe antibiotic resistance crises in Asia, coupled with the highest rates of drug-resistant bacteria. This public health challenge underscores the urgent need for innovative therapies capable of combating multi-drug-resistant pathogens, a need that Recce’s anti-infective platform aims to address.

Recce Pharmaceuticals CEO James Graham commented on the development, stating, “As antibiotic resistance continues to pose a significant global health challenge, expanding our patent coverage supports our strategy to advance and commercialise our novel anti-infective platform worldwide.”

Despite the positive intellectual property development, Recce’s share price fell in afternoon trading, reflecting market volatility or other external factors unrelated to the patent announcement.

The company’s continued expansion of its patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions demonstrates a commitment to protecting its innovations and positioning its anti-infective treatments for global commercialisation, particularly in regions with critical unmet medical needs.
