Telo Genomics Seeks U.S. Patent for Liquid Biopsy MRD Algorithm in Multiple Myeloma Management

Telo Genomics Corp. (OTCQB: TDSGF), a Toronto-based biotech innovator specializing in advanced telomere analytics, announced on July 9, 2026, the filing of a U.S. provisional patent application. The application seeks to protect a novel TeloView® biomarker algorithm tailored for use with liquid biopsy samples, including those with minimal residual disease (MRD), in the clinical management of multiple myeloma (MM).

John Farlinger, CEO of Telo Genomics, emphasized the strategic importance of this filing, stating, "This filing reflects our continued focus on building intellectual property around high-value applications of the TeloView® platform. As MRD becomes increasingly important in multiple myeloma patient assessment and treatment development, we believe there is a significant opportunity to advance blood-based approaches that complement the current clinical practice."

The patent application covers an innovative TeloView® algorithm capable of predicting relapse risk in MM patients. It also protects the workflow for isolating circulating cancer cells from peripheral blood samples within the MRD context. This addition to Telo’s IP portfolio is expected to bolster the company’s competitive position, facilitate future commercial partnerships, and further distinguish TeloView® from existing MRD detection technologies.

TeloView® is a proprietary diagnostic platform that analyzes three-dimensional telomere and nuclear architecture to assess genomic instability—a key driver of cancer progression. The technology enables single-cell level analysis and has generated multiple prognostic algorithms applicable across oncology and neurodegenerative diseases. Telo Genomics continues to expand its patent coverage, with protection for TeloView® extending through 2043.

MRD assessment is an FDA-approved clinical endpoint and has become integral to MM clinical practice, research, and drug development. However, current MRD technologies primarily quantify residual tumor burden and typically require invasive bone marrow biopsies. These limitations restrict their use for routine longitudinal patient monitoring and provide limited biological insight into residual disease.

Telo Genomics’ peripheral blood MRD development program aims to validate a non-invasive clinical assay capable of regularly detecting MRD presence or absence. Additionally, the assay seeks to provide relapse risk metrics to guide therapeutic decisions. The company anticipates that such an assay will reduce healthcare costs and improve patient outcomes.

One ongoing validation study involves a collaboration with the University of Athens, which has supplied a substantial cohort of liquid biopsy samples for MRD testing. These samples are being compared with corresponding EuroFlow results to assess assay performance.

It is important to note that provisional patent applications are not examined by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and may not result in issued patents. Any future patent rights granted could be narrower than the original application claims.

Telo Genomics is a biotechnology company pioneering comprehensive telomere analysis platforms with applications in oncology and neurological diseases. Their technology integrates quantitative 3D telomere analysis, molecular biology, and artificial intelligence to detect disease-associated genetic instability. Supported by over 160 peer-reviewed publications and more than 30 clinical studies involving upwards of 3,000 patients, Telo Genomics develops diagnostic products aimed at improving clinical care for pathologists, clinicians, researchers, and drug developers. The company’s lead application, Telo-MM, focuses on providing actionable insights for treating multiple myeloma, a severe blood cancer.
