Temu Expands Brand Monitoring to Over 15,000 Brands in Latest IP Protection Report

Temu has substantially increased its intellectual property protection efforts over the past year, according to its 2026 Intellectual Property Protection Report covering June 2025 to May 2026. The platform now proactively monitors more than 15,000 brands, tripling its previous scope.

The report highlights a marked improvement in enforcement efficiency, with the ratio of proactive removals of potentially infringing listings to reactive takedowns rising to 331:1, compared to approximately 200:1 the year before. This indicates a stronger emphasis on identifying and addressing IP violations before they escalate.

Temu also expanded its detection database to include over 47 million images and 9.5 million keywords, enabling more comprehensive monitoring. Intellectual property complaints were resolved in under 24 hours on average, demonstrating the company’s commitment to swift action.

During the reporting period, Temu engaged with more than 130 industry associations, nearly doubling its outreach from the prior year. This increased collaboration supports the platform’s efforts to stay aligned with evolving IP protection standards.

The company reported rejecting over 40 percent of new seller applications during onboarding after verification checks, ensuring that only compliant sellers join the marketplace. Additionally, Temu terminated more than 16,000 stores for repeated intellectual property violations, underscoring its zero-tolerance approach.

Every product listing undergoes screening before going live and continues to be monitored post-publication through a combination of automated detection technology and human reviewers. This layered approach enhances the accuracy and effectiveness of IP enforcement.

To further protect consumers, Temu introduced a feature across all its operating markets that blocks searches containing terms such as “fake,” “dupe,” and “counterfeit.” Instead of search results, users receive information about the risks associated with counterfeit products. This feature prevents over 80,000 such searches daily.

Launched in April 2024, Temu’s Brand Guardian Initiative now partners with more than 3,000 brands, including approximately 500 small and medium-sized enterprises. This initiative integrates trademarks and other intellectual property into the platform’s monitoring systems, strengthening brand protection.

The company also increased its engagement with intellectual property organizations during the year and joined the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition in April 2026, further solidifying its commitment to combating counterfeit goods.

A Temu spokesperson stated, “We work to protect intellectual property before it becomes a problem for a rights holder. The report reflects our priorities of finding and removing potentially infringing listings proactively, resolving reported ones quickly and working directly with brands so the system keeps improving.”
