Temu, the global online marketplace launched in 2022, has taken a significant step in bolstering its intellectual property (IP) protection program by joining the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) as a General Member. The IACC is a prominent coalition comprising over 250 companies and organizations from more than 40 countries, all united in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy.
A Temu spokesperson emphasized the importance of IP protection in cultivating trust among consumers and brands, stating, "Protecting intellectual property is essential when building a marketplace that consumers and brands can trust. Joining the IACC reflects our ongoing commitment to IP protection, and we look forward to constructive collaboration with industry peers and stakeholders."
Through its membership, Temu aims to deepen collaboration with brands, industry associations, and enforcement agencies within the IACC network. The company plans to actively participate in cross-industry working groups, share expertise, and contribute to joint initiatives designed to enhance intellectual property protection and consumer safety on a global scale.
Bob Barchiesi, President of the IACC, welcomed Temu’s membership, noting, "We're pleased to welcome Temu as a member of the IACC and its continued efforts in intellectual property protection. Addressing counterfeiting requires coordinated, cross-industry action. The IACC brings stakeholders together to align efforts and share best practices. We look forward to Temu's active participation in our network as we continue advancing a safer and more trusted online ecosystem worldwide."
Temu’s IACC membership builds upon its prior engagement with the coalition. In May 2025, Temu signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IACC and became an inaugural member of the Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC), a forum that includes online marketplaces, payment providers, and global brands collaborating on IP enforcement strategies.
The platform’s IP enforcement system is comprehensive, operating at every stage of the seller and product lifecycle. This includes rigorous seller vetting, pre-listing screening, and continuous 24/7 post-listing monitoring. Temu’s proactive monitoring database encompasses more than 6,700 brands, utilizing over 38 million images and 9 million keywords to identify potential infringements.
Temu reports that over 99.9% of takedown requests are resolved within three business days, with an average resolution time of less than one business day, demonstrating the efficiency of its enforcement mechanisms.
In addition to technological measures, Temu launched its Brand Guardian Initiative in April 2024. This program directly supports more than 1,500 brands by providing enforcement tools, personalized assistance, and regular insights derived from enforcement data.
Operating in over 90 markets worldwide, Temu connects consumers with millions of manufacturers, brands, and business partners. The platform is dedicated to offering affordable, high-quality products that enhance customers’ lives, while maintaining a strong commitment to intellectual property protection and consumer safety.
Temu’s enhanced IP enforcement efforts and active participation in the IACC exemplify the growing importance of collaborative, cross-industry approaches to combating counterfeiting in the global e-commerce landscape.
