USPTO to Host Virtual Session on Effective Patent Searching in Ongoing Educational Series

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced it will hold a virtual training session titled "Path to a Patent, Part III: Patent searching" on Thursday, June 18, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. This event is the third in an eight-part recurring series aimed at educating the public about the patenting process.

During this session, USPTO experts will provide detailed instruction on how to effectively search for existing patents, a critical step in determining the novelty and patentability of inventions. The training will also cover foundational intellectual property concepts to help participants better understand the broader patent landscape.

The "Path to a Patent" series is offered free of charge and delivered virtually to ensure broad accessibility. It is designed to guide inventors, entrepreneurs, and other interested parties through the complexities of patenting, starting with intellectual property basics and progressing through patent searching, drafting, and filing applications.

The USPTO emphasizes that this initiative is strictly educational and informational. It does not constitute legal advice, nor does the agency endorse any private entities or guarantee specific outcomes. References made during the sessions to events or third parties should not be interpreted as endorsements by the USPTO.

Participants interested in joining the June 18 session can register through the USPTO’s official website. The agency encourages attendees to prepare questions and engage actively to maximize the benefits of the training.

For further information or to contact the USPTO, individuals should visit the agency’s contact page at www.uspto.gov/about/contacts. The USPTO also advises recipients to adjust their email filters to ensure continued receipt of updates and notices from subscriptioncenter@subscriptions.uspto.gov.

This virtual training is part of the USPTO’s ongoing commitment to support innovation by providing accessible resources that empower inventors and businesses to navigate the patent system effectively.
