Global law firm Clyde & Co has bolstered its Middle East technology practice with the appointment of Ruby Khnom as Partner and Head of Technology, based in the firm’s Dubai office. Ruby Khnom is a highly regarded technology lawyer known for advising multinational and local clients on emerging technologies, digital transformation projects, and complex technology contracts.

Her expertise spans technology-related outsourcing and procurement agreements, integration of technologies such as digitisation, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud services. Additionally, she advises on data privacy and management, having worked with clients in healthcare, infrastructure, retail and consumer sectors, financial services, and technology.

Joycia Young, Partner and Head of Intellectual Property and Commercial practice in the Middle East at Clyde & Co, highlighted the increasing investment in technology and rapid digital transformation in the region. She noted that businesses face heightened data and regulatory risks, making expert legal guidance essential. Young stated, “Ruby’s arrival further strengthens our technology, data, and outsourcing offering, ensuring we remain a trusted partner in delivering the strategic guidance clients need in this fast-evolving sector.”

Ruby Khnom expressed enthusiasm about joining Clyde & Co, emphasizing the firm’s longstanding presence and strong reputation in the Middle East market. Clyde & Co’s technology team combines deep knowledge of local laws with extensive experience advising on complex, large-scale technology transactions. The practice supports clients with digital transformation projects, legal and regulatory challenges, IT procurement and outsourcing arrangements, corporate acquisitions in e-commerce and FinTech, and compliance with emerging technology regulations.

The firm’s technology offering has recently expanded with the hire of data and digital partner Isabel Simpson in London and the promotion of IPTC specialist Lamisse Bajunaid to partner in Jeddah. These moves reflect Clyde & Co’s commitment to strengthening its capabilities amid rapid growth in the digital and data landscape.

With over 35 years of experience in the Middle East, Clyde & Co’s regional team comprises 55 partners and more than 140 lawyers. The firm has added 13 new partners in the past year, including energy specialists Josh McFadzen and Bryan Wilson in Abu Dhabi, real estate lawyer Janeen Pickering in Dubai, and the return of Tom Bicknell to expand the Middle East financial services regulatory practice.

In Saudi Arabia, the partnership has doubled in size through promotions of Shahd Makhafah, Andrew Archer, Will Cadwaladr, Brendan Molck, and Nathaniel Horrocks-Burns. The region’s leading dispute resolution practice also grew with appointments of Talal Al-Othman, Sara Aalamri, and Ahmed Alhudaithi in Saudi Arabia, underscoring the firm’s broadening expertise across key sectors.
