Gladstone Police Charge Two Maryborough Residents with 34 Property Offences

Detectives from the Gladstone Property Crime Unit have charged two individuals with a combined total of 34 offences following a series of property crimes across the Gladstone region.

The accused are a 30-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, both residents of Maryborough. Authorities allege their involvement in numerous property offences, particularly targeting a retail centre located in Clinton.

On 1 July at approximately 7:18 pm, police on patrol along Dawson Highway located the woman, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. Upon sighting the officer, she allegedly attempted to flee and tried to enter moving vehicles on the highway before being taken into custody.

The woman faces 20 charges, including three counts of entering premises with intent to commit an offence, one count of attempted robbery, one count of attempted unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, one count of wilful damage, and one count of serious assault of a police officer.

She appeared before the Gladstone Magistrates Court on 2 July and was remanded in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for 3 August.

Subsequent investigations led police to locate the 40-year-old man at a makeshift campsite situated in dense bushland. He was arrested and charged with 14 offences, including providing a false name to police, entering premises with intent, stealing, and possession of drug utensils.

The man was also remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on 3 August.
