USPTO Schedules April 29 Hybrid Session on Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Applications

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced an upcoming USPTO Hour session dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) developments within the agency. Scheduled for April 29 from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern Time, this hybrid event will be hosted by the Office of the Under Secretary and will highlight how the USPTO is fostering AI innovation and employing AI tools to support its intellectual property mission.

Robert Hayes, Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, who also serves as Acting Chief AI & Data Officer, will be the featured speaker. Participants are encouraged to register in advance and may submit questions or suggest topics for future USPTO Hours by emailing USPTOHour@uspto.gov.

The session will be accessible virtually, with registrants receiving a link to attend online. For those wishing to attend in person, seating is limited. The in-person event will take place in the Clara Barton South Auditorium at the USPTO headquarters, located at 600 Dulany Street, Alexandria, Virginia.

Visitors attending the event in person must present a U.S. government-issued REAL ID to gain entry to the USPTO campus. The agency advises attendees to review the USPTO Headquarters webpage beforehand for important information regarding identification requirements, parking, transit options, and campus maps.

USPTO Hours are regularly held every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. ET. The agency has announced that upcoming sessions in May 2026 will feature additional topics and speakers. Presentation materials and recordings from past sessions are available on the USPTO Hour webpage.

The USPTO encourages interested parties to stay connected by subscribing to regular email updates through the subscription center on the USPTO website. For inquiries or assistance, the USPTO directs individuals to their contact webpage.
