AMD, Adeia Settle Claims And Strike Licensing Deal In IP Suits

By Editorial Team

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has settled two suits brought by a semiconductor research company that accused it last year of infringing 10 chip manufacturing technology patents.

AMD and Adeia Inc. have reached a settlement agreement to resolve the claims made against AMD in the intellectual property lawsuits. The settlement includes a licensing deal that allows AMD to use the disputed technology in its products.

The lawsuits, which were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, involved allegations of patent infringement related to various chip manufacturing technologies. The patents in question cover a range of innovations such as mitigating surface damage of probe pads, 3D IC methods, SRAM design, and more.

Legal teams from Alston & Bird, Caldwell Cassady, O'Melveny & Myers, and Slayden Grubert represented the parties involved in the litigation.

Other companies named in the lawsuits included Canon Inc., QUALCOMM Inc., and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. The International Trade Commission was also mentioned in relation to the cases.

This settlement marks a significant development in the ongoing legal disputes in the semiconductor industry and highlights the importance of protecting intellectual property rights in technological advancements.
