Billionaire Khosla Seeks to Block Apple’s Subpoena in Intellectual Property Dispute
By Editorial Team
Billionaire entrepreneur Vinod Khosla has taken a stand against tech giant Apple by filing a motion to quash a subpoena issued by Apple in the ongoing patent infringement lawsuit against AliveCor Inc. Khosla, along with his venture capital firm Khosla Ventures, is being targeted by Apple in an attempt to allegedly pressure AliveCor to withdraw antitrust claims.
The motion to quash, filed on May 30 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, argues that Apple’s subpoenas are nothing but “fishing expeditions” and are intended to harass Khosla and Khosla Ventures. The document states that the requested information is irrelevant to Apple’s claims regarding heart-monitoring technology and imposes an undue burden on the parties involved.
According to Khosla, Apple’s actions are an attempt to coerce AliveCor into dropping its antitrust and unfair competition claims, allowing Apple to maintain its allegedly anticompetitive practices. The motion highlights the concern that Apple is using legal maneuvers to stifle competition and avoid accountability for its actions.
This legal battle underscores the high-stakes nature of intellectual property disputes in the tech industry, where powerful companies like Apple often wield their influence to protect their market dominance. Khosla’s move to challenge Apple’s subpoena signals a determination to uphold fairness and transparency in legal proceedings.
