Google Emerges Victorious in Valtrus Data Monitoring Patent Infringement Lawsuit

By Editorial Team

A recent ruling by a San Francisco federal judge has favored Google in a patent infringement case brought by Valtrus Innovations Ltd. The judge dismissed two consolidated patent infringement cases from Texas against Google, citing that Valtrus lacked the grounds to sue.

The court found that Valtrus did not have constitutional standing due to a declaration of trust it executed, transferring ownership rights to its parent company on the same day it acquired a patent portfolio from Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. This legal maneuver effectively left Valtrus with an empty legal title while its parent company, Key Patent, held the substantive ownership rights.

This decision marks a significant victory for Google, as it successfully defended itself against the patent infringement allegations brought forth by Valtrus Innovations Ltd.
