Mixel’s IP solution is designed to comply with all these enhancements, delivering multi-gigabit data rates with the reliability, low latency, and power efficiency required for today’s connected vehicles. It includes both transmitter and receiver components, advanced clocking schemes, and on-die safety diagnostics to meet ISO 26262 standards for functional safety. These features make the IP highly suitable for deployment in critical automotive systems, especially in environments where real-time data processing and decision-making are vital, such as in vision-based autonomous navigation.

Ashraf Takla, CEO of Mixel, expressed his excitement about the release, noting that the development of the ASA-ML v2.1 SerDes IP was a result of close collaboration between Mixel’s engineering teams and other ASA Alliance members. He emphasized that the IP is not only backward compatible with earlier ASA-ML versions but also fully optimized to handle the performance demands of future automotive platforms. According to Takla, this release positions Mixel to support the automotive industry’s shift toward centralized, software-defined vehicle architectures, where high-speed communication between edge devices and central processors is essential.

The ASA Alliance’s endorsement of this new IP core underscores the industry's growing emphasis on standardization and interoperability. As vehicle designs become increasingly complex, modular, and data-intensive, having a consistent and reliable SerDes framework reduces design time and integration challenges for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. Early adopters of Mixel’s ASA-ML v2.1 IP have already begun integration into upcoming automotive designs, pointing to widespread interest and anticipated impact across the sector. The IP has been made available for licensing immediately and is compatible with a broad range of semiconductor process technologies, further increasing its applicability and accessibility for chipmakers and system designers.
