By Editorial Team

Radian Memory Systems LLC has reached a settlement with Samsung regarding patent infringement claims related to solid-state drives with zoned namespace capabilities. This resolution brings an end to a legal dispute that had attracted attention from the federal government.

The case, which had been ongoing for some time, involved allegations of patent infringement by Samsung in relation to solid-state drives with specific features. The settlement marks the conclusion of this legal battle between the two technology companies.

Details of the settlement agreement, including any financial terms or licensing agreements, have not been publicly disclosed at this time. However, the resolution of the dispute indicates that both parties have come to a mutual understanding to put an end to the litigation.

Legal representation for both Radian and Samsung included firms such as Caldwell Cassady, Gillam Smith, Miller Fair, and Quinn Emanuel. The case was heard in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The patents involved in the dispute included several related to nonvolatile memory controllers, storage systems with multiplane segments, flash management, addressing techniques for write and erase operations, and storage devices with specific features.

With the settlement now in place, Radian and Samsung can move forward without the burden of ongoing litigation, allowing both companies to focus on their respective business operations and technological advancements.
