Teneo.ai Patent Portfolio Valued at Up to $211 Million in Independent Assessment by Oxford IP Firm

By Editorial Team

Teneo.ai, a leading enterprise voice AI and contact center automation platform, has received an independent economic assessment of its U.S. patent portfolio by OxFirst Ltd, an IP valuation firm based in Oxford, U.K. The assessment estimated the portfolio's present economic value to be in the range of approximately $169 million to $211 million, with a midpoint estimate of around $190 million.

Portfolio Evaluation Details

The evaluation, completed in the first quarter of 2026, focused on Teneo's nine granted U.S. patents covering foundational technologies in natural language understanding, conversational orchestration, multi-agent virtual assistant architectures, and conversational analytics. Notably, these patents were filed between 2012 and 2021, pre-dating the emergence of the Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) market as a defined commercial segment.

OxFirst utilized a Net Present Value methodology based on a litigation-tested royalty benchmark of 5.38%, derived from the 2024 U.S. federal court case IPA Technologies, Inc. v. Microsoft Corporation. The assessment was made against a U.S. Intelligent Virtual Assistant (IVA) market estimated at $8.7 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 24.59%.

Key Highlights of the Portfolio

  • 1,717 total forward citations across the portfolio, averaging about 20 citations per patent per year, exceeding the sector average of approximately 12 in the Computers and Communications field.
  • Citations received from major tech giants like Apple Inc., IBM, Microsoft, Google, Dell, Meta Platforms, and Accenture, among others.
  • Four patents have individually accumulated over 300 forward citations, including the foundational patent "System and methods for delivering advanced natural language interaction applications" filed in 2012.
  • The portfolio covers a wide range of technologies including NLU delivery systems, virtual assistant network architectures, natural language analytics platforms, and more.

Management Statements

Teneo.ai's CEO, Per Ottosson, highlighted the significance of major tech companies citing their patents, indicating the early and effective solutions provided by Teneo. The company's Chief Marketing Officer, Marie Angselius Schönbeck, emphasized the foundational nature of their patents, protecting solutions crucial for the industry.

About OxFirst Assessment

The valuation opinion by OxFirst Ltd is economic in nature and does not constitute a technical validity or infringement analysis. The assessment values the patents independently of Teneo.ai as a company and is subject to limitations and assumptions described in the OxFirst report.
