Web Cursor Patent Owner Unable to Pay Overstock's Legal Fees
By Editorial Team
The owner of a web-cursor patent, Lexos Media IP LLC, has informed a federal court in Kansas that it lacks the financial means to pay Overstock.com Inc.'s legal fees following an unsuccessful infringement lawsuit against the online retailer.
Lexos Media IP LLC stated on Monday that it is unable to comply with the court's order from March 13, which mandated the payment of $81,132 to cover Overstock's expenses in responding to an expert report filed by Lexos outside of the court's deadline. The deadline for payment was set for Tuesday.
Despite the $81,132 payment being due, it is significantly lower than the $2.8 million that Overstock is seeking to recover from the legal proceedings.
