Silvaco Expands Mixed-Signal IP Portfolio with Mixel Acquisition

Silvaco to Acquire Mixel, Inc. a Provider of Low-Power, High-Performance Mixed-Signal Connectivity IP Solutions

Silvaco, a leading provider of TCAD, EDA software, and SIP solutions, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Mixel Group, a renowned provider of low-power connectivity silicon IP solutions. The acquisition, which involves a combination of cash and stock, is set to be finalized by August 1, 2025.

Mixel specializes in high-performance SerDes and PHY solutions, particularly for MIPI Alliance applications, boasting over 25 years of success in the silicon industry. This strategic acquisition aims to bolster Silvaco's semiconductor IP portfolio in key growth markets such as mobile, automotive, VR/AR, IoT, and robotics.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Mixel CEO Ashraf Takla will join Silvaco to facilitate a seamless transition. The merged entity will concentrate on delivering innovative connectivity IP solutions, with a specific focus on automotive connectivity and safety-critical applications.

The acquisition of Mixel by Silvaco represents a significant expansion of Silvaco's semiconductor IP portfolio, particularly in the realm of connectivity solutions for high-growth markets like automotive and IoT. This move directly addresses the escalating demand for specialized mixed-signal IP in burgeoning markets such as automotive, IoT, mobile, and AR/VR applications.

With Mixel's expertise in low-power, high-performance SerDes and PHY technologies, including ISO 26262-compliant IPs crucial for automotive applications, Silvaco aims to enhance its market position and cater to the evolving needs of the semiconductor industry.

Overall, the acquisition is poised to provide Silvaco with a competitive edge by enabling vertical integration, expanding its addressable market, and fostering global engineering capabilities. The retention of Mixel's CEO and the company's established track record further solidify Silvaco's position in the semiconductor IP market.
