Meta IP Judge Bashes Boies Schiller, But Lets Authors Amend Suit

California Federal Judge Criticizes Plaintiffs' Attorneys in AI-Copyright Lawsuit Against Meta Platforms Inc.

Anneleise Levy, Reporter

A California federal judge granted authors' request to amend their AI-copyright lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc. while criticizing the plaintiffs' attorneys for their handling of the proposed class action. Judge Vince Chhabria singled out Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, the firm representing the authors, stating that the plaintiffs' counsel seemed more focused on criticizing Meta than properly representing their clients' interests.

Despite the judge's criticism and referring to the plaintiffs' excuse for not seeking an amendment earlier as "lame," he still allowed the authors to amend their lawsuit.
