Cardi B and Atlantic Records Prevail in IP Lawsuit Over Hit Single 'Enough'
By Editorial Team
A Texas federal judge recently ruled in favor of Cardi B and Atlantic Records in a copyright infringement lawsuit related to the hit single 'Enough (Miami)'. The lawsuit alleged that Cardi B used beats from two music producers without permission. However, the judge determined that the court lacked personal jurisdiction over the rapper, even though she had performed multiple times in Texas.
The case, which was closely watched by the music industry, saw Cardi B and Atlantic Records successfully defend against the claims, with the judge ultimately dismissing the lawsuit.
DLA Piper and Moore Pequignot represented the parties involved in the case, with Atlantic Records Inc. and Warner Music Group Corp. being the companies named in the lawsuit. The U.S. District & Bankruptcy Courts of the Southern District of Texas oversaw the legal proceedings.
