GoPro Owes $174M For Infringing Video Camera IP, Jury Hears

By Editorial Team

GoPro Inc. has been found to have infringed Contour IP Holding LLC's patented video camera technology, with a California federal jury hearing arguments that GoPro should pay $174 million in damages, according to Contour's counsel. The trial involved allegations that GoPro unlawfully used technology owned by Contour, while GoPro's attorney argued that the company was the original inventor of the technology in question.

Contour IP Holding LLC's legal team presented their case to the jury, asserting that GoPro violated their patented video camera technology. They urged the jury to award $174 million in damages to compensate for the infringement.

On the other side, GoPro's attorney countered the allegations by claiming that GoPro was the rightful creator of the technology and did not infringe on Contour's patents.

The case, which unfolded in a California federal court, shed light on the dispute between the two companies over the intellectual property rights related to video camera technology.

Both legal teams, representing Contour IP Holding LLC and GoPro Inc., presented their closing arguments to the jury, seeking a favorable verdict in their client's favor.

The outcome of this trial will have significant implications for both companies involved, as it will determine the financial consequences of the alleged patent infringement by GoPro.
