Samsung and Headwater Reach Settlement After $279M Verdict

By Editorial Team

Headwater Research has agreed to end a series of lawsuits against Samsung, accusing the tech giant of infringing various wireless communications patents. The resolution comes after a jury previously ruled that Samsung owed nearly $279 million in damages.

The legal battle between Headwater Research and Samsung involved allegations of patent infringement related to wireless communications technology. The lawsuits included claims that Samsung had violated patents such as automated device provisioning and activation, network systems with secure wireless messaging services, and enterprise access control for access networks.

Notable law firms involved in the case included Fish & Richardson, Gillam Smith, Hilgers Graben, Miller Fair, Potter Minton, Quinn Emanuel, and Russ August. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. was represented by its legal team throughout the litigation process.

The settlement between Samsung and Headwater Research brings an end to the contentious legal dispute, providing closure for both parties involved. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed publicly.
