Strava Drops Patent Suit Against Garmin Weeks After Filing

Fitness app company Strava has agreed to drop a lawsuit filed last month accusing wearable device maker Garmin of infringing a trio of GPS patents for defining segments of road and mapping routes.
Strava's decision to drop the patent suit against Garmin comes shortly after the initial filing, signaling a resolution between the two companies regarding the alleged patent infringement.
The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, involved three patents held by Strava: 9,116,922 for defining and matching segments, 9,297,651 for generating user preference activity maps, and 9,778,053 for generating user preference activity maps.
Legal representation for Strava in the case included law firms Faegre Drinker and Keker Van Nest & Peters, while Garmin was the defendant in the lawsuit.
With the dropping of the lawsuit, the legal dispute between Strava and Garmin over the alleged patent infringement has been officially resolved.
