Yealink Successfully Invalidates Four Barco Patents Following Trial Loss

By Editorial Team

Yealink Network Technology Co. has emerged victorious in a legal battle against Barco NV, successfully invalidating four out of the six wireless meeting-room patents that were at the center of an infringement lawsuit. The Patent Trial and Appeal Board rendered final written decisions on Tuesday, declaring the challenged claims of US Patent Nos. 10,762,002, 11,403,237, 11,258,676, and 11,422,951 as unpatentable due to obviousness.

The board concluded that the claims in question combined existing technologies in predictable ways, dismissing Barco's assertions that they involved more than routine engineering. This decision comes after Yealink admitted to infringing on the patents prior to a jury trial held in November.

Barco had sought damages in the lawsuit, resulting in a nearly $1 million verdict against Yealink. However, with the invalidation of four key patents, Yealink has successfully defended its position in the legal dispute.

This development marks a significant legal victory for Yealink, reinforcing its position in the competitive landscape of video-conferencing technology. The company's ability to invalidate the patents asserted by Barco showcases its commitment to protecting its intellectual property rights and defending against infringement claims.
